Funding for your support at home can come from many sources depending upon your individual circumstances. At HCD we can help you to receive your support at home services, no matter what funding source you have.
Choice and control is yours
The way your local council supports people like you or your family, who have support at home needs, is changing.
This change means local people you may already know and trust, such as your friends, neighbours or family (although this system doesn’t usually apply to relatives living in the same house) can now be chosen to be your personal carer and be paid to support you or your family, so you can continue to live independently in your home.
Financial freedom through direct payments or personal budgets
Local councils are now giving people more choice and control of their support at home by giving people the finances to pay for their own personal care to meet their assessed needs.
This funding, which is paid at the beginning of every four week period, from local councils is called a direct payment or a personal budget and is an alternative to the council providing care themselves or through a local care agency.
By 2013 everyone who needs personal care will receive a personal budget from their local council in this way, to pay for their support at home.
