City of Lincoln Council
Lincoln City in the ceremonial county of Lincolnshire is the second largest of the English counties and one that is predominantly agricultural in character. Despite the widespread perception of Lincolnshire as a physically rather dull and uniform county, it is often remarked that the Lincolnshire landscape is a place of surprising contrasts that possesses a subtle beauty and quiet charm that is all of its own. Certainly its generally flat landscapes, ‘big skies’ and comparative emptiness make this a landscape that remains uncommon in the generally densely populated United Kingdom, often referred to as the Flatlands.
Lincoln is also famous for its beautiful cathedral which houses the Lincoln Imp – a cheeky gargoyle who appears in several places throughout the beautiful stone work in the cathedral. Lincoln university has expanded over the last few years bringing new vibrancy to this beautiful market town.
