Edward McDonagh is an inspiring individual that HomeCareDirect are proud to work with.

Edward McDonaghEdward is a young man who sustained a brain injury at a young age following a road traffic accident. Edward and his family have coped amazingly with Edward’s accident and on-going care needs and last summer Edward moved into his own home in Bicester, near to his family. Edward has 24-hour care provided by five personal assistants, employed on his behalf by HomeCareDirect.

On Sunday 18th May he took part in the Blenheim 7k fun run. Edward was the first ever person to take part in a wheelchair and he was accompanied by his trainer Johnathan Watson (pictured). Edward propels his wheelchair forwards turning the right wheel with his right arm and pulling on the ground with his right foot, also used to steady himself. He crossed the finish line in 40 minutes and 52 seconds.

Edward trained for three months for the event and has told the Oxford Mail: “It has been difficult and nearly pushed me to my limit. But it has also given me a goal to work towards for the future. It makes me feel motivated, excited and passionate.”

So far Edward has raised an amazing £3,670.00 for The Children’s Trust Tadworth Court, where he spent a year rehabilitating from the accident he has when he was younger. Edward’s JustGiving page can be seen here so please give generously if you can.
