Nimbus Disability, created the Access Card and its associated Quality Assurance Scheme CredAbility. Nimbus is a Social Enterprise set up by disabled people in 2006 to provide advice and guidance to organisations on how best to meet disabled people’s needs in line with what was then the Disability Discrimination Act.

Over the years Nimbus has worked with a wide range of different companies each facing their own issues with regard to working with disabled people.

Long story short they have married their experience of working with companies and for disabled people; eventually coming up with what we call ‘the bits in the middle’ CredAbility and The Access Card!

The Access Card is a nationwide scheme set up by disabled people for disabled people to help communicate your needs without sharing your life story!

It can unlock exciting new experiences in live music, events, and activities across the UK plus, it also opens up a growing variety of great discounts at restaurants, cafe’s, visitor attractions bar-dining venues and more. It’s also an indication of your legal rights as disabled person

Nimbus have modelled the card originally around the live music experience, they wanted to see more disabled people enjoying the experience of live entertainment, with festivals being possibly the biggest task when it comes to accessibility for disabled people due to the lack of accessible facilities weather and other factors.

Since working with many large festivals including Download and Glastonbury to name a few we have seen massive leaps in accessible activities and events for disabled people and as such disabled people are trying new exciting experiences for the first time thanks to the Access Card. Their dedicated team are striving to make cardholders part of these great experiences and by having the card, it empowers each individual by allowing them to use their card to unlock more discounts by informing venues about the value we have as disabled people and to show that they bring custom to venues already on-board with them.

The card costs just £15 for three years and they are certain cardholders find that cost more than covers the range of great perks it can offer.

For more information about applying for the card and to apply please visit their website here www.accesscard.org.uk or just give them a call for a chat with one of their friendly team on 01332 404023.
