On Thursday 7 May 2015 there is a general election across the whole of the UK. If you are over 18 and have registered to vote you can have your say and vote in the general election.

Mencap have produced easy read Manifestos for all the major parties ready for the general election.

What is a manifesto?

Manifestos tell you what a political party believes in and what they will do if they win the election. Easy read manifestos have been produced by the main political parties to help you decide who to vote for.

Why is it important to vote?

You have the chance to vote for the candidate you think will do the best job standing up for things you think are important locally and in Parliament. By voting for the party that you most agree, you have a say in the the way the country is run and express the issues that matter to you. See their easy read guides to voting

Mencap have also written their own easy read manifesto. This is about the change they want to see from the next government. They have also produced some resources about how to vote and supporting someone to vote.
