At HCD we’re passionate about the personalisation of care, and for almost 10 years we’ve been supporting the rights of people to have control over their support at home. We provide a national service and are proud to be helping hundreds of people and families nationwide to live independently in their own home.
HCD was established in 2003 because we recognised that personal budgets and direct payments give people the chance to choose, employ and organise their own personal assistants – an opportunity to have full choice and control over their support at home.
However, in order to have this choice and control, people are left with the headache of being the legal employer of their personal assistants – with all the responsibilities and risks involved.
HCD realised we could remove this headache by helping people and families to choose personal assistants themselves and then employing them on their behalf.
In a nutshell – we allow people to choose and organise their ideal personal assistants and HCD employ them on their behalf – allowing all the choice and control, but without the hassle of being an employer!
HCD will then help the person and family arrange the details of their day-to-day support to suit their own routine. They decide who comes into their home and when – rather than it being decided for them.
Personal assistants can be neighbours, friends, family members (in certain circumstances) or someone found through advertising and interview. Where there’s a training requirement, HCD will work with the person and family to arrange tailored training for their personal assistants that matches their specific needs.
HCD caters for anyone who needs care, including older people, children and young people, people with learning disabilities, people with mental health issues and people with physical disabilities and/or sensory impairments. The service from HCD can include all specialist services to meet the needs of all individuals.
Alongside help and advice on securing funding, assessment support, setting up individualised care packages and a dedicated care support officer to help manage packages on a day-to-day basis, HCD also provide a 24/7 telephone service and a local support manager, all to ensure everything runs smoothly. We’ll be involved as much or as little as desired.
HCD is registered with the CQC and our support is to CQC and National Essential Standards of Quality and Safety.
