Specsavers Healthcall is the home visit eye care service from Specsavers. If you’re unable to visit one of their stores unaccompanied due to physical or mental disability, they’ll come to you instead. This means no more relying on other people to get you to and from the optician, now you can benefit from a free NHS eye test, great offers and high standards of care in the comfort of your own home.

Home eye tests from Specsavers Healthcall are carried out with the same care and attention as in a Specsavers store and are free under the NHS. You can request a home visit for yourself or on behalf of someone else and they can visit customers in their home or care home.

The process is simple and once they’ve checked your eligibility, their qualified and experienced opticians will visit at a time that is convenient for you.

You may qualify for a free NHS eye test at home if you are unable to visit an optician unaccompanied due to physical or mental disability and are any of the following:

  • aged 60 or over
  • registered blind or partially sighted
  • diagnosed with diabetes or glaucoma
  • considered to be at risk of glaucoma, as advised by an optician
  • aged 40 or over and your mother, father, brother, sister, son or daughter has been diagnosed with glaucoma
  • receiving benefit (Income Support, Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, Income-related Employment and Support Allowance or Pension Credit Guarantee Credit)
  • entitled to, or named on, a valid NHS tax credit exemption certificate
  • on a low income and named on a valid HC2 (full help) or HC3 (partial help) certificate
  • eligible for an NHS Complex Lens Voucher (our optician will advise on the entitlement)

If your free eye test shows that you need new glasses, you’ll be able to choose from the same frame ranges and the same offers that you’d find in Specsavers stores. You may even be eligible for a free pair of glasses funded by the NHS – Specsavers opticians will be able to give you more information when they visit.
