World Mental Health Day 10th October 2013

World Mental Health Day 2013

This international days purpose to raise public awareness about mental health issues worldwide. This event promotes open discussions on illnesses, as well as investments in prevention and treatment services.

1 in 4 of us at one point or another is effected by mental health issues and after the recent shocking ‘mental patient’ costumes which were being sold by Tesco’s and Asda that offend people and professionals alike and the social media storm this created this day is a great opportunity to continue to challenge negative mental health stereotypes and raise awareness internationally about mental health issues.

In Leeds, many organisations from across the city are coming together for an event at the Civic Hall – there will be stalls and information, refreshments and a warm welcome to all.  The event will run on  Thursday 10th October from 11am till 3pm at Civic Hall, Calverley Street, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 1UR.
