Job Description

Job Title:                         Bank Support Worker

Reporting to:                   Client /Home Care Direct                

Place of Work:                 CLIENT’S HOME/OTHER LOCATIONS AS DIRECTED

Type of Contract:             Bank

Purpose of the role

To assist the client with activities which ensure the client is able to live as independently as possible.

Main Responsibilities

Adhere to the support plan designed by the client and approved by HomeCareDirect. This will include a wide variety of duties at the client’s home and in the community which enable the client to live as independently as possible and in the manner in which they wish to live

Enable the client to live as full and active a life as possible.

Undergo training as determined by HomeCareDirect so that you are trained to meet the client’s needs as specified in the support plan

Complete a daily record of work in HomeCareDirect log books so that accurate and reliable information is available to HomeCareDirect about the client

Attend supervision sessions with a HomeCareDirect representative so you can be assessed as being safe to perform tasks in which you have been trained

Attend appraisal sessions with a HomeCareDirect representative so that feedback can be provided and any issues raised and discussed. Career progression and further training opportunities for personal assistants will also be discussed here

Comply with relevant legislation and HomeCareDirect operational policies and procedures

About the Client

The client lives by herself in an adapted bungalow in Wisbech Cambridgeshire. She receives daily support from a team of PA’s who help with her daily living skills, and regaining her independence and mobility skills following a severe Acquired Brain Injury and physical disability sustained in a road traffic accident.

The client requires support with her personal care, mental and emotional wellbeing and developing appropriate lifestyle choices and activities.

The client enjoys doing craft projects, horse riding (part of Riding Disabled association), she enjoys going shopping every Wednesday and attends the Headway group on a Friday each week 10.00am – 3.00pm.

The client visits her grandparent’s, dad, sister and friends on a regular basis and enjoys spending time with them. It is important to maintain these relationships and they play an important role in her life.

General Work Duties

You will be required to assist the client in the tasks below:

Driving / getting around / visiting friends

Personal care such as washing or dressing

Attending medical visits/collecting prescriptions

Taking medicine (PAs administering medication keep a written record of all drugs given in accordance with the Medication Policy)

Shopping

Preparing and cooking food

Cleaning and housework

Laundry

Ensuring the client’s home is hygienic and safe

Personal Qualities

Commitment to providing assistance with all duties to the highest possible standard

Show sensitivity and consideration when working with the client

Respectful of client’s privacy and dignity

Enthusiasm for assisting the client to live their life to the full as independently as possible

Essential Criteria

A full, valid UK driving license is required. It is preferable that applicants have their own suitable vehicle to take the client out and have suitable business insurance  

Experience

It is desirable for applicants to have previous experience in the care sector. This can be either paid or voluntary work and family care experience can be considered

Training

HomeCareDirect will ensure that you are fully trained to meet the needs of the person you are employed to support. This training will be provided prior to starting with the client and updated as necessary. Some training may require you to attend external training courses.

Pay Rate

£10.30 per hour

All HomeCareDirect employees are paid monthly.

Hours of Work

The position is for a bank support worker to cover hours when required.

The times of the shifts are to be confirmed by the client and/or family. These times may vary occasionally depending on the activities that you plan to undertake with the client.
