Job Description

We are looking to recruit a dedicated Support Worker for our client in Sheffield.

Purpose of the role:

The overall purpose of the support package is to assist the client in having a safe sociable, purposeful and active lifestyle, in which he remains as independent as is practical.

General Work Duties

  • To work with client at home and within the local community.
  • To be responsible to Client via the family and Clients Case Manager.
  • To provide assistance and support to our client as directed by the family.
  • To help our client participate in recreational and leisure activities.
  • To provide full personal care to our client as and when required, both in the home and out.
  • To provide nutritional meals for  at all times, when in the home.
  • To act as a driver as necessary.
  • For one staff member to always sit in the back of the van with the client whenever he is in it.
  • To be flexible in hours of work to satisfy the clients requirements.
  • For all staff to carry out domestic duties in the clients home, as appropriate.
  • To undertake training and supervisions as and when directed by Home Care Direct.
  • To liaise with any professionals, as the need might arise.
  • To work within agreed care techniques and strategies whenever necessary.
  • Should the need arise, to work alongside any therapist’s and assist with agreed rehabilitation strategies and techniques.
  • To ensure the clients confidentiality in all matters, relating our client.
  • Any other appropriate and reasonable task, in relation to working with our client.
  • To provide personal care to the Client, This includes assistance with toileting, washing, bathing,
    Dressing, cooking and the preparation and provision of food and drink.

Your role also includes assisting with domestic tasks, directly associated with the clients support needs.

In addition, you are:-

To provide assistance with rehabilitation activities designed to improve client’s physical and cognitive functions, this is to include a couple of sessions per week, in the client’s swimming pool

To escort and accompany Client on outings to a variety of social, recreational, vocational, Hospital and (when necessary) rehabilitation venues, both in the clients home and when required at external venues

You will be expected to use the clients own vehicle when going on outing or attending appointments, when you do have outings there is to be one staff member to always travel in the back with him

To provide emotional support and companionship for the client.
To provide day to day assistance for the client, in a manner which will increase his independence and well-being.

Essential Criteria

A full, valid driving licence is required. As you will be using the Client vehicle to take to activities and Appointments.
Experience

It is desirable for applicants to have previous experience in the care sector. This can be either paid or voluntary work and family care experience can be considered.

Pay Rate

Mon – Fri 8am-7pm = £9.75
Mon – Fri 7pm – 10pm = £10.75
Mon – Fri 10pm – 8am = £8.21
Sat – Sun 8am – 10pm= £10.75
Sat – Sun 10pm – 8am= £8.55
