HomeCareDirect have been selected as a case study by UKHCA for the Homecare Innovation Challenge, launched recently by Care and Support Minister Norman Lamb.

HomeCare Innovation Challenge

The Care and Support Minister Norman Lamb launched the Homecare Innovation Challenge in 2013, to generate ideas for developing integrated and sustainable homecare for the future. As part of this initiative, the Guardian newspaper hosted the Homecare Hub – an on-line forum for the exchange of ideas – and the Department of Health sought case studies on homecare successes to feature. Several written by UKHCA members featured on the Hub and they have now published. This project has demonstrated clearly the immense value of homecare to people who use services, supporting them to live at home and reducing the need for hospital care.

Among others HomeCareDirect have contributed a case studies to the Homecare Innovation Challenge by sharing Theresa’s story – making a success of a personal health budget which shows how by using her personal health budget funding and with HomeCareDirect employing her parents to be personal assistants, Theresa can remain at home with her family and be well cared for.

UKHCA have now published an edited selection of the case studies they received from members, including ours, for the public and media to read which you can see here.

We’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences on homecare innovation so please get in touch with us here and you see many more case studies on our testimonials page here.
