At the Together is Better West Yorkshire launch event on 29th May in West Yorkshire it was great to demonstrate the purpose of Together is Better by charitable donations being made to charities chosen by people who use and value their services.

HomeCareDirect have made a pledge to begin donations of 5% of their charge to charities chosen by their service users. We were delighted to have HomeCareDirect clients and/or their family representatives at the event making donations to charities of their choice.

The Nerve Centre – Don Robinson attended on behalf of his daughter Jayne. Don is Jayne’s main carer and Jayne wanted to make donations to The Nerve Centre who works with people with neurological conditions. Mellissa Harper (pictured) received the cheque of £140.40 on behalf of the charity and spoke about their gratitude in receiving the donation, how this money will help them continue in the work they do and how they hope that Together is Better is successful.

Launched in August last year our charity Together is Better aims to promote personal budgets and partnership working in order to improve people’s health and well-being and identify new funding streams for charity and voluntary groups.

Another key aim of Together is Better is to campaign for an increase in donations from the private sector to charity and voluntary organisations, in order to help provide a sustainable future for the services that have a positive impact on peoples quality of life whilst further strengthening the partnership approach to their care at home.

We also hope that other companies sign up to the Together is Better approach and start donating!
