The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is a central London and is known as one of the most affluent and poshest places in London. It is also home to the Notting Hill Carnival, Europe’s largest carnival. Many Embassies are situated in Belgravia, Knightsbridge and Kensington Gardens. It contains many of the most exclusive residential districts in London, which are also some of the most expensive in the world as well as beautiful Parklands.

Known for its up-market shopping along the Kings Road and Kensington High Street with department stores like Harrods, Peter Jones and Harvey Nichols, Kensington & Chelsea recently became the first area nationally where the average household income has topped £100,000 according to research undertaken by Barclays. From 2011, Channel 4 has broadcast a reality television show called Made in Chelsea, documenting the “glitzy” lives of several young people living in Chelsea. Kensington is home to the Royal Albert Hall, which overlooks the southern side of Hyde Park, famous worldwide for its annual hosting of ‘The BBC Proms’ and other distinguished concerts and festivals. However the grandest building in Kensington by far is the Royal Kensington Palace and Gardens, the birthplace of Queen Victoria, located on the western edge of the broad green fields of Hyde Park. The palace is still a royal residence today and is the official London residence of Prince William and Catherine Middleton (the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge).
