Suffolk is an East Anglian county and borders with Norfolk to the north, Cambridgeshire to the west and Essex to the south. The North Sea lies to the east. The county town is Ipswich; other important towns include Lowestoft, Bury St Edmunds and Felixstowe, one of the largest container ports in Europe.  The Suffolk Coast and Heaths are classed as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Suffolk’s biggest appeal is its untouched essence, perfect for those adventurous enough to get off the beaten track and explore the county. Full of unspoilt countryside and exquisite beaches, Suffolk is home to a variety of small towns and villages. The capital town is Ipswich, one of England’s oldest towns as testament to Suffolk’s antiquity. Past residents include Benjamin Britain, Humphrey Lyttelton, Cardinal Thomas Wolsey and George Orwell and today’s Suffolk celebrities include Bob Hoskins, Delia Smith and June Brown, (Dot Cotton in Eastenders).
