Support Worker in Shipley (HL/AE/SHIP)

  • Location: Shipley
  • Rate: £11 per hour Mon-Fri 7am to 9pm, £12 per hour Sat-Sun 7am to 9pm, £12.50 per hour Mon-Fri 9pm to 7am and £13.50 per hour sat-sun 9pm to 7am

Job Description

Purpose of the role

  • To assist the client with activities which ensure the client is able to live as independently as possible.
  • Main Responsibilities
  • Adhere to the support plan designed by the client and approved by HomeCareDirect. This will include a wide variety of duties at the client’s home and in the community which enable the client to live as independently as possible and in the manner in which they wish to live
  • Enable the client to live as full and active a life as possible. Encourage the client to identify a variety of social and leisure activities they would like to do. Assist in the planning and organising of these activities, ensuring the client is as involved as possible
  • Undergo training as determined by HomeCareDirect so that you are trained to meet the client’s needs as specified in the support plan
  • Complete a daily record of work in HomeCareDirect log books so that accurate and reliable information is available to HomeCareDirect about the client
  • Attend supervision sessions with a HomeCareDirect representative so you can be assessed as being safe to perform tasks in which you have been trained
  • Attend appraisal sessions with a HomeCareDirect representative so that feedback can be provided and any issues raised and discussed. Career progression and further training opportunities for personal assistants will also be discussed here
  • Comply with relevant legislation and HomeCareDirect operational policies and procedures
  • Ensure you attend all shifts as agreed by the team leader.
  • In the event of staff annual leave or sickness, shifts should always be covered between the current staff (including yourself)
  • All staff are to complete the appropriate documentation as requested by HomeCareDirect or other professionals.
  • To communicate with the HomeCareDirect, the team and family with relation to all aspects of the client’s care.
  • To ensure all Health and Safety routines are adhered to.
  • To contact HomeCareDirect with regards to any issues or concerns.
  • To ensure all client care plans and risk assessments are adhered to at all times and alert HCD of any and all changes.
  • To attend staff supervisions and training.
  • Be part of team meetings with HomeCareDirect.
  • Ensure house hold tasks are completed as per guidance and documented.

 General Work Duties

  • You will be required to assist the client in the tasks below:
  • Meeting people and socialising
  • Driving / getting around / visiting friends
  • Personal care such as washing or dressing
  • Attending medical visits/collecting prescriptions
  • Administration of medication (PAs administering medication keep a written record of all drugs given in accordance with the Medication Policy)
  • Shopping
  • Preparing and cooking food for the client
  • Cleaning and housework
  • Laundry
  • Ensuring the client’s home is hygienic and safe
  • Undertake moving and handling in line with training provided
  • Driving the client to access appointments etc.
  • Personal Qualities
  • Commitment to providing assistance with all duties to the highest possible standard
  • Show sensitivity and consideration when working with the client
  • Respectful of client’s privacy and dignity
  • Enthusiasm for assisting the client to live their life to the full as independently as possible
  • Training
  • HomeCareDirect will ensure that you are fully trained to meet the needs of the person you are employed to support. This training will be provided prior to starting with the client and updated as necessary. Some training may require you to attend external training courses.

Hours of Work

14 hours per week to meet the needs of the client

Pay Rates

£11.00 per hour Monday to Friday 7am to 9pm

£12.00 per hour Saturday Sunday 7am to 9pm

£12.50 per hour wake nights – Monday to Friday

£13.50 per hour wake nights – Saturday, Sunday
