Female Personal Assistant / Female Support worker – HL/SM/LEICESTER

Role Description

This wonderful role is supporting a young lady with Autism, OCD and learning difficulties to live comfortably in her own home. Her family are looking for a team of people who work together to support her. The type of individuals they are looking for needs to be reliable and compassionate. The ideal candidate will be extremely well organised, articulate and focused with an excellent eye for detail. During each shift you will either be working in the clients home, or wherever they are, to be available as and when they need help. The client needs round the clock care and shifts will be divided between each PA.

Assisting with personal care

  • Handing her the Shampoo/Conditioner/Face wash
  • Prompting her to wash areas she has forgotten
  • She showers on her own you just need to prompt her and pass over products
  • Laying out her deodorant and body lotion for her to use when she gets out of the shower
  • Laying out clothes for her to wear when she gets out of the shower

 Assisting with meals

  • Meal planning a week ahead is crucial
  • Making sure it includes all the proper food groups necessary in her diet: fruits, vegetables, protein, fiber, and more
  • Preparing nutritious meals for her
  • Preparing each meal ahead of time so that her meal is ready at the allocated time that she has it   (due to her OCD she eats each meal at a certain time)

Assisting with activities

  • Planning ahead for all her activities
  • Taking her and taking part in the activities that she likes to do like swimming and playing games in the garden.
  • Going out with her once a week to get a meal
  • Accompanying her on her daily walks once a day

 General

  • Noting down her appointments, planning ahead for them and make sure everyone who needs to knows and is aware
  • Making sure the property is clean and safe
  • Her laundry is clean and put away
  • Noting down things that have finished so that you can get it next time you go shopping
  • Noting down things the client needs and passing it on to her family
  • The main aim is to assist the individual to live a full and meaningful life that develops their potential and promotes their rights

 The successful Personal Assistants / Supports Workers will meet the following criteria:

  • Female
  • Possess excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to successfully multi-task
  • Kind, patient, understanding, empathetic individual
  • Have the ability to develop and promote positive working relationships with the client, their family and professional colleagues
  • Have a desire to work with people with Autism, OCD and learning difficulties
  • Someone who will push the client to go out in the community, do activities and make the most of their day
  • A good motivator
  • Someone with initiative and is able to get on with things
  • Someone who plans ahead
  • Someone who can fully commit to this job role, because if you were to cancel last minute or not show up to your shift it would mean the client would have no one. Each shift is assigned to someone, if someone cannot do there shift because something came up they would need to have sorted out someone to cover their shift in advance and informed everyone involved.
  • Have a degree in Psychology, Criminology, Counseling, Psychotherapy, Forensic Psychology mental health, ABA therapists, nursing or similar ideally but not essential
  • Ability to cook
  • Knows about nutrition
  • Have a Diploma / NVQ 3 in caring for children or vulnerable adults or working towards this qualification would be desirable
  • Someone who has worked in a similar role before would be desirable
  • Care: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Hold a full clean driving license for at least 1 year due to insurance (applicants with a valid driving license and car are preferable for this role, however if you do not have one please still apply and we will review)
  • Flexible and punctual 

In accordance with CQC regulations, appointment to this position will be subject to satisfactory DBS, reference and medical checks

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time. We will be willing to accommodate to other commitments if clearly stated at interview stage. Please also clearly state on cover letter whether you want Part Time or a Full time position.
