Community Behaviour Support Trainer

Job Description

Overview of the role: 

We are looking for individuals who have experience in working with clients with Learning Disabilities, Mental Health and other similar conditions who have behavioural challenges.   This is a home based role and will involve meeting with clients, their staff teams, family and other professionals to work in partnership to develop behaviour support plans and oversee the implementation of these plans.  The role will also involve training teams in Mapa techniques to support clients who require restrictive intervention where appropriate, debriefing following any intervention and analysing incident reports and providing feedback from these reports, collating data and working with teams to provide the least restrictive and most effective practices suitable to meet the client’s requirement within their own homes.

Qualifications/Experience:

We are looking for the following skills which will be individually valued:

  • You will be experience in supporting and training teams in managing care interventions for clients who display challenging behaviours
  • Have experience in Positive Behaviour Support planning, analysis and guidance to staff teams
  • Teaching Qualification PTTLS or AET Level 3 or higher teaching qualification (HomeCareDirect will provide this element of training if required).
  • To be a recognised trainer in Mapa (Management of Actual or Potential Aggression) or be willing to undertake the course.
  • Experience in delivering training, lesson planning and undertaking observations to confirm competency.
  • Experience in any of the following would be desirable – learning disabilities, adult health and social care settings and mental health.
  • Practising within your specialist field within the last 3 years and be working to maintain your competencies.
  • You must be IT literate as the role will involve elements of report writing, developing behaviour support plans and supporting the teams to implement these as well as undertaking analysis of incidents and generating report to feedback to other professionals.

Hours of Work:

Minimum of 3 days per week (22.5 hours). Training times will vary to meet the needs of the client and the company.

Remuneration:

Minimum Salary of £19,890 per annum, overtime will be paid at your hourly rate of £17.00 per hour when not directly delivering training courses.

Delivering Training Hours:  £25.00 / hr in addition to the salary

Mileage is paid at 44p/mile up to 10,000 miles per annum, after 10,000 payment would be 24p per mile.  Or alternatively you can received a car allowance of £3000 per annum and 11p per mile fuel contribution. 

Food allowances for any overnight stays are £10.00 for breakfast, £20.00 evening meals, accommodation is paid for by the company using our corporate accounts.   If working hours exceed 8 hours there is a £5 meal contribution. 

Other expenses are considered on an Adhoc basis.

Holiday entitlement – Pro rata: 20 days plus 8 bank holidays
